Work-Trade

Hana Farms work-trader papaya harvest

Aloha! Thank you for your interest in applying for our work-trade program.

We accept most of our applicants through the WorkAway.info . See our listing and apply here.

Some of our volunteers find us through the fantastic WWOOF (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms), a directory of organic farms seeking volunteers. For more information about becoming a wwoofer on Hawaii, check out their website. See our listing and apply here .

We are heavily focused on food and product development for our roadside stand here at Hana Farms. We love to work with culinary professionals and individuals with experience in the food industry.

The Details

A typical term is 4-6 months with the possibility of extension.

Many positions on the farm are work trade only with no stipend, but out here in the jungle you do not need much money and residents on the farm eat very well. Also, since we do prefer long-term stays and many of our wwoofers turn into long-term residents, we often only have 1-3 openings every season. We will sometimes make exceptions for people whose particular skills match what the farm needs during a specific season.

We accept applications for work trade year-round, but we are often full on the farm months in advance so it's best to check back for current openings and apply at that time. Our farm residents will look through the applications collectively and make the decision as to who will be joining our farm. We keep all applications on file for consideration when we do have openings.

Please be patient if you don't hear back from us right away
